Bertha Newsome, age 72, of Idabel, OK, passed away December 4, 2017 in Texarkana, TX.   She was born on January 30, 1945 in Arizona to Lois Walter Newton and Nettie Lou (Green).

Bertha has lived in the McCurtain area all her life.  She was a faithful member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Idabel, OK.  Bertha enjoyed going shopping, watching westerns and loved jewelry.  She was very caring and cared for any and everyone whether they were rich or poor.  Bertha also loved her dog Peanut very much. 

Bertha is preceded in death by parents; sisters, Opal Patty, Betty Caudle, Bernice Clark, Ethel Rayburn, Burl Newton, and Everett Newton; along with two special friends, Beatrice Daniels and Becky Spradlin.

She is survived by her loving children, Ricky Wayne Hobbs of Houston, TX, Joey Newsome and wife Tammy Mills of Garvin, OK, Karen Pearson and husband Jimmy of Livingston, TX, Jimmy Conley of Fredrick, OK, Kathy Conley and husband Johnny Morrison of Fredrick, OK; brother Gene Newton of Mena, OK; one sister, Ruby Ledbetter of Idabel, OK; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a very close friend, Michelle Smith.

*Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Norwood-Nation Chapel.

Services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Forest Hill Baptist Church in Idabel, OK.

Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery
