Welcome to the memorial page for

Dimple Ramona (Whitten) Sharp

May 31, 1936 ~ September 2, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Dimple Sharp was born on May 31, 1936 to Milton “M.W.” Whitten and Myrtle Elkins - Whitten. She departed this life in Hallsville, Texas on September 2, 2017.

She was born and raised in Idabel into a rodeo family. Her dad, Milton Whitten was a cattle rancher, who had his own slaughter house and rodeo stock producer. Her brother, Bobby Whitten rode bulls and she ran barrels. She, Bobby, and Sonny Whitten helped their dad a lot with the ranch duties.  She graduated at Gray High School, at the top of her class with honors. She was FFA sweetheart and a cheerleader.  Upon graduation in 1954, she attended Southeastern college in Durant.  She later moved to Dallas and attended business school.  Dimple married James Earl "Jimmy" Sharp in December 1957.  They had 3 children.  They had cattle and pipe lined all over the United States. Jimmy Sharp helped to build the dam at Broken Bow lake, while Dimple was the bookkeeper for the lake project.  In 1966, Dimple moved to Dallas, and worked for many years at Love Field Airport. She moved back to Idabel in 1970 and began working at the Department of Human Services.  During her 26 years at DHS, she helped hundreds and hundreds of people. She went above and beyond and went out of her way to help those in need.  There have been countless people contacting family members, how Dimple help them. She was loved by many.  A little-known fact that the family would like to be known is that, Dimple’s grandfather, Horace Xavier "H.X." Whitten, donated all the land, where the rodeo and McCurtain free fair are held, under the stipulation that it would always be a free fair!!  The family finds irony in the timing of Dimple’s departure from this earth is during the free fair week.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, Mike Sharp; 1 brother, Jack Whitten; 3 sisters, Virginia Rasp, Jane Brown and Billie Jean Whitten. 1 Grandchild, Eric Carper and former husband, Jimmy Sharp.

Dimple is survived by; 2 daughters, Sherrie Sharp of Idabel and Lisa Gray and husband, Robert of Hallsville, Texas. 2 brothers; Bobby Whitten and wife Jane and Sonny Whitten and wife, Linda all of Idabel.1 sister, Pat Cavender and husband James of Pittsburg, Texas Grandchildren; Danny Jordan and wife, Karla, Jared Jordan and wife Emily, Kisha Carper, Jessica Shomo, Jamie Marable, Toni Tait, Chevy Rumsey Shane Hard-Sharp.
