Melody McBrayer, 68 of Idabel, passed away January 17, 2018 at Idabel, Oklahoma.  She was born April 5, 1949 at Portsmouth Virginia Naval Hospital, the daughter of Ralph and Berta Railton.  Being from a military family, she moved a lot during her childhood and had lived in England for a brief time.   She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church for over forty years.

Melody was a teacher’s aide at Primary South in Idabel.  She loved her students and faculty.   Melody had a very big heart. She was kind and full of generosity.  She loved her family with all her heart and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grands.  She loved watching television and crocheting.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Lora Bounds and husband Billy of Aurora, Texas, Michael McBrayer and wife Rose of Idabel, and Jason McBrayer and wife Angella of Idabel; brother, Michael Railton and wife, Mary Lynn of Wadesboro, North Carolina; sister, Alice Barton of Littleton, Colorado; eleven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Philip McBrayer.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Kyle Jordan officiating.  Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery at Idabel, Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the American Diabetes Association as these were close to her heart.
