Shawna Hughes Obituary

Shawna Brantley-Hughes, 48 of the Redland Community, went to be with her Lord on June 8, 2018 at her home with her family by her side.  She was born October 5, 1969 at DeQueen, Arkansas, the daughter of Jerry Don Brantley and Sharron Darity.

Shawna was raised in Eagletown, graduated from Eagletown High School then attained her Bachelor’s Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.  In 1991 she was chosen as one of ten Okie Girls to work in the Okie Girl Café in Lebec, California.  She married Klyne Hughes November 21, 1997 in Idabel.

Shawna was larger than life.  She was a huge supporter of her children and family.  She loved spending time with them and watching them play golf, baseball and softball.  She loved Brantley and Faith’s friends and always enjoyed having them over to hang out.  She also adored her three border collies and enjoyed training them and playing with them.

She loved the Lord and was a strong Christian woman that would chastise you in a flash if needed.  She was the rock that held her family together.  Her great sense of humor and beautiful smile will greatly be missed.

She is survived by her husband, Klyne Hughes; children, Brantley Hughes and Faith Hughes of the home; mother, Sharron Bohannon (Russell) of Eagletown; step-mom, Phyllis Brantley of Broken Bow; brother, JD Brantley of Broken Bow; sisters, Shonna Darity of Eagletown; Kim Clark of Broken Bow; Beth Brown of Moore, Oklahoma; best friends, Michele Treadway and Dana Kay Jarvis; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kenneth and Brenda Hughes of Redland; sister-in-law, Karla Williams (Scott); brother-in-law, Kyle Hughes; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Don Brantley; grandparents, “Snowball” Brantley and  Walter and “Dutch” Darity.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2018 at the Haworth Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Edward Walker officiating.  Interment will follow in the Redland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
