Auther Leon Flemings, 78 of Tom, passed away March 11, 2020. He was born March 23, 1941 the son of Lucille Staggard and James Flemings
A veteran from the Vietnam era, Auther proudly served his country in the United States Army. The Army provided Auther with the opportunity to travel all over the world and live in several places in the U.S. from California to Texas and finally Oklahoma where he settled. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, Arthur became a great truck driver. He drove 18 wheeler trucks for PAT Trucking Company for several years and later he worked as a forklift operator for Tyson Foods, Inc. in Grannis, Arkansas until he was forced to retire due to health issues.
Auther was simple man. His hobbies included watching basketball, baseball, and mowing. He was well known for mowing yards in the Tom Community for friends and neighbors or anyone in need.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Melinda Flemings of the home; daughters, Patty Flemings and Barbara Flemings both of California, Melissa Flemings of Edmond, Oklahoma, Dymon Fields of Tom; son, Isaiah Flemings of Tom; brother, Willis Flemings of California; sister, Beverly Tarver of California; five grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Auther was preceded in death by his grandmother and grandfather Willis and Alabama Flemings; his mother, Lucille Staggard and father, James Flemings; sister, Jewell Flemings; brother, James Robert Flemings; aunts, Christine Holman, Evelyn Flemings, Maggaline Hunter; uncles Clarence Flemings and Bill Flemings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Community Baptist Church in Tom, Oklahoma with Rev. Roy Barlow and Ola Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Luke Cemetery at Tom.
