Bettye Lou Shockley, passed away on November 23, 2024. She was born in Valliant, Oklahoma, on May 8, 1938, to parents William and Florence Scott. Bettye was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend known for her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit.
She had an unparalleled love for feeding those around her, always making sure no one ever left her home hungry. Whether it was a home-cooked meal or a special treat, her kitchen was a place of comfort and joy for all who entered.
In addition to her role as a caring family member, Bettye was a dedicated paraprofessional, impacting the lives of countless students throughout her career with her patience, kindness, and support. Bettye will be remembered for her nurturing nature, her infectious smile, and the way she made everyone feel like family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, William and Florence Scott; brothers, Gerald, George, W.D., A.J., and Joe; sisters, Florabell, Ellen, Loraine, and bonus sister Louise; daughter, Sylvia Littleton; and her grandsons, Thomas and Todd Wells.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Gayle Kid Shockley of Idabel; sons, Marshall Littleton, Gaylon Shockley, and Orion Shockley; daughters, Rosemary Dean, Amber Shockley, Becky Parsons; bonus daughters, Patricia Gross and Carolyn Gore; special nieces, Cindy Tipton and Anita Norton; special nephew, David Scott; as well as dear grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Clardy Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at the Garvin Cemetery, Garvin, Oklahoma.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2024 at Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
