Beverly Ann Cowell, 80 of Garvin, passed away November 12, 2024 at her home. She was born January
26, 1944, the daughter of Joseph and Thelma McDowell Ragan. She was a 1962 graduate of Idabel Gray
High School and married Kenneth Cowell June 21, 1961.
Beverly loved to be outdoors. She loved animals, especially horses. She had a green thumb and would
grow anything with a root, from traditional gardening, to trees, to transplanting lily pads in her pond.
She was crafty and quite the artist. She worked for Smith Equipment for many years. After her husband
passed away, Beverly continued to keep their farm going until she became ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Ray Cowell; brothers-in-law, Wallace Dean
Cowell, Bo Wesley; sisters-in-law, Lomas Hess and Juanita Edwards.
Beverly is survived by her sons, Kenneth Wayne Cowell and wife Audrey of Florence, South Carolina,
Clay Cowell and wife Jeanie of Garvin; granddaughter, Kellee Cowell; grandson, Kevin Cowell; great-
granddaughters, Abbigale Detwiler and Addilene Vanest; brothers-in-law, Alvie Cowell and wife Marie,
Curtis Cowell and wife Pat; special nephew, Curtis Lynn Cowell; special family friends, Bobbie Black, Pam Black, Shelia Jones; numerous other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends Friday, November 15, 2024 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel in Idabel from
4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the First Baptist
Church in Valliant, Oklahoma with Bro. Mike Mings officiating. Interment will follow in the Wheelock
Cemetery, Millerton, Oklahoma.
