Billy Moreland Chapman, 76, formerly of Garvin, Oklahoma passed from this life March 11, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born July 30, 1947 in Garvin to James Knox and Virgie Louella (Ricketts) Chapman.

Billy was a devoted Christian who never failed to tell everyone around him about the Lord. While living in the area, he attended Grace Assembly and the Church of God. He moved to the Ft. Smith area in 2018 where he most recently attended the House of Praise. One of his favorite pastimes was listening to music, especially gospel music by Bill Gaither.
Billy loved his family, growing flowers, and anything and everything that had to do with OU football. Nothing could put a bigger smile on his face more than his wife and her cooking. Billy loved everyone and never met a stranger. You would never walk away without a smile or a laugh from something silly he would say. He truly lived loving God, family, people, and country.
On March 4, 1968, he married Cathy McHargue at Broken Bow. Recently, they celebrated fifty-six years of marriage. He made sure Cathy and his family knew he loved them. He cherished his family a great deal.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Cathy Chapman; sons and daughters-in-law, James Russell and Marie Chapman of Tulsa, Kenneth and Lela Chapman of Broken Bow, Jeremy and Carmen Chapman of Fort Smith; brothers, John Chapman of Swink, Roger Chapman of Garvin; sisters, LaMoyne Chapman (Kenneth) of Millerton, Helen Cockerham of Oregon, 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many special friends and family that will miss him dearly.
A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 at Clardy Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Ed Vansell officiating. Interment will follow at Garvin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
