Bob Maye Obituary

Bob Maye, 85 of Idabel, passed away August 26, 2020 at Paris, Texas.  He was born, November 21, 1934, the son of Troy and Vada Maye.

Bob was a veteran of the United States Marines.  He owned and operated Idabel Auto Mart for twenty-four years and Bob Maye Construction for forty-three years.  He and Betty, his wife of twenty-three years, loved to travel. He enjoyed taking her to new places. He was an avid crappie fisherman whom you could find camped out at the lake with Betty and the grandkids every time he got the chance.   He loved doting on his grandbabies.  They were his passion. He was a hard worker, yet a gentle giant.   He was loving, kind and had a smile that would light up a room.  He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he would go.   He was a great story teller who often told unbelievable stories.  His life devotion to his family will greatly be missed.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Betty Maye of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Rebecca Maye of Louisiana, Christopher and Lynn Maye of Haworth, Phillip Maye of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, Shane and Samantha Dillard of Idabel; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and David Thompson of Vian, Oklahoma, Shannon and Jerry Whisenhunt of Idabel, Tamara Peters and fiancé George McComick of Durant; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Irma “Bucky” Maye of Haworth, Wayne and Deanna Maye of Haworth; sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Gary Owens of Burkburnett, Texas; grandchildren, Jordan, Jason, Joann, Dylan, Caitlyn, Tyler, Dakota, Andrew, Hanna, Kelsey, Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Josi and Noah; special friend and right-hand, Clint Wages; special friend, Bobby Lanham; special cousins, Doug Pollard and Sid Lane; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and son, Marty Maye.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Audie Dawson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery with military honors respectfully rendered by the United States Marines.
