Bonnie Jane Holmes

Beloved matriarch of the Holmes family, Bonnie Jane Holmes, passed away February 6, 2021 of natural causes in Idabel, Oklahoma.  She was born on October 5, 1927 in the Kulli Tuklo Community to Paul and Nancy McMillian.

Bonnie embodied strength, resilience, and devotion to her family.  She loved playing uno, dominos, spades and bingo.  She enjoyed winning but was gracious and kind and gave lots of teachable moments to opponents and grandchildren until macular degeneration took most of her sight.

Bonnie and Roy Ray Holmes were married on May 12, 1945 and remained husband and wife until Roy Ray passed away on February 12, 1982.  Together, they established and operated Holmes Concrete Construction for many years at the “Y” in Idabel.  They started with very little but built the concrete business to become very successful.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Roy Ray Holmes and daughter, Patricia Kay Holmes.  Remaining to remember and honor her are daughters, Dorthy Ann and husband George McKearin of Plano, Texas, Carlotta Jan and husband Jimbo Grimes of Idabel; son, Steve Ray Holmes and wife Claudette of Hochatown; very special grandson that she and Roy Ray raised, John Crawford Holmes (Buddy) and wife Tammy, along with seven additional grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Close friends and family will gather Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. for a funeral service at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel with Lewis Schwartz officiating.  Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery.
