Cathy Davis

Former Idabel resident, Cathy Davis, 69 of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away August 23, 2021 at Rogers, Arkansas.  She was born June 26, 1952 at Hugo, Oklahoma, the daughter of W.A. and Doris Loftin. 

At the age of fifteen, she claimed her husband.  She hopped in the front seat of Warren Davis’s car and said “Let’s Go!” and from there, they were inseparable.  They were married December 30, 1972.

Cathy was larger than life.  She had the most cheerful and bubbly personality and was sure to light up a room.  She loved everyone and was loved in return by all who knew her.  She was first and foremost a teacher.  She loved educating kids at school and church and had spent the last forty-seven years teaching and serving as administrator in Idabel and Rogers school systems. She served as Sunday School teacher for nearly twenty-five years at the First Baptist Church in Idabel and assisted with the children at the First Baptist Church in Bentonville. She particularly loved the “littles” in Pre-K through 2nd grade.

Cathy served on many boards and leadership positions including the McCurtain Memorial Hospital Board and the Idabel Educators Association. She was president of the Idabel Chamber of Commerce where she co-chaired the first Idabel “City of Lights” Christmas Parade. She was the Idabel Citizen of the Year in 1993.  She was on the Idabel Summer Baseball board and was instrumental in building the ballpark.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Molly Davis of Rogers, Arkansas and Kyle and Charley Davis of Norman, Oklahoma; grandsons, Hunter Davis, Hudson Davis and Samuel Davis; sisters, Mary Ann Childers and Nancy Childers both of Idabel; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 34 years, Roland Warren Davis, Jr.; brother, Billy Sam Loftin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Roland and Jimmie Davis; brother-in-law, James Davis.

Out of concern for the safety of the community, the family has requested private services.

The funeral home will be open for viewing August 25, 2021 until 8:00 p.m.
