Charles Shelton Powers, Sr.

Charles S. Powers, Sr. 89 of the Idabel Community passed away April 21, 2025 in Southaven, Mississippi. He was born November 24, 1935 the son of Victor Powers and Wahloolah Flying Cloud Powers. 

Charles was a Christian and believed Jesus Christ was his savior and the son of God. He was a Military Veteran who served in the US Marine Corp. Charles also loved fishing, horseback riding, playing cards, deer & dove hunting and spending time with his family most of all.  He worked for Tyson as a security guard for many years. He could tell the best stories about life and the way he grew up. He was a loving Husband, Brother, Father/Dad, Pappy/Paw Paw. 

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Lena Cochran Powers; son, Richard Hardin; brothers, Kenneth Powers & Dewey Powers. 

Charles is survived by 3 children: son, Charles Powers Jr. & Patti of Troy, Texas, daughters, Molly Hayes & husband Terry of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Connie Moore of New Braunfels, Texas, sister, Harriett Powers Glenn of Poteau, Oklahoma, brother, John Powers & wife Frankie of Hope, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Erica Powers, Anthony Powers, Cheyenna Powers & husband Kevin, Renea Beene & husband Scott, Kellie Moore & husband David, Charles Ray Manning & wife Amy, Shannon Manning & wife Tracy, Karen Hardin; twenty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; several nephews, nieces, cousins, along with numerous other family members and a lot of friends. 

A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.  Inurnment will follow in the Denison Cemetery, Idabel, Oklahoma.
