Charles "David" McCoy Obituary

Charles David McCoy, 67 of Tom, Oklahoma, passed away December 20, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.  He was born December 14, 1954 in Idabel, Oklahoma, the son of Mertis Marie and John Robert McCoy.  While David grew up in Idabel, he moved to Chickasha where he had his children, Jennifer Tucker, Jason Malone and Amanda Morris through his first marriages. It was also during this time that David gained an “adopted” son, Quinton Keesee.  Eventually, David moved back to Idabel to be with his high school sweetheart, and he married Janet Coppock July 26, 2010 in DeQueen, Arkansas, where his family grew, and he became the father to Kelly Anderson, Ronica Roberts, and Lauren George.

David was an avid outdoorsman, including all types of hunting and fishing throughout different periods of his life. David loved to bird hunt and coon hunt in his earlier years, and he even won many championships coon hunting.  Over the years, he became more fond of turkey hunting and deer hunting.  He dearly loved and cherished spending time in the mountains hunting with his brothers.

An accomplished, self-employed, master carpenter, David could build anything and do anything.  He was a volunteer firefighter, farmer and rancher, amazing and loving husband, an incredible father and even better grandfather, devoted brother, and a supportive friend to many.  David was an excellent guitar player, despite having just a few fingers, and he loved to sing and make up songs for laughs.  He was always a joy to be around with his fun and entertaining personality and could always make everyone around him laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Janet McCoy; daughters, Jennifer Tucker and husband Brandon, Lauren George and husband Shelby, Kelly Anderson and husband Gary, Ronica Roberts, Amanda Morris and husband Terry; sons, Quinton Keesee and wife Lesley, Jason Malone and wife Jessica; brothers, J.R. McCoy and wife Anita, Todd McCoy and wife Jennifer; sisters, Shirley White, Louise Bright, Tina Mann; grandchildren, Jake, Ethan, Hunter, Bailey, Kristen, Chase, Colten, Brayden, Londyn, Will, Calleigh, Kutter, Kolt, Talon, Rheese; numerous other relatives and many, many, friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Mertis Marie Dean Scott and “Bob” McCoy; brothers, Don McCoy, Leon McCoy, and Larry McCoy.
