Christopher Bond Obituary

Christopher Len Bond, 54 of Idabel, OK died March 20, 2024 in Texarkana, TX. Chris was born to Gwen Shaffer in Ft. Worth, TX on September 5, 1969. Chris graduated from Thackerville, Oklahoma in May of 1987. He attended KTC for vocational industrial technician where he frequently did further training to advance his career.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother Gwen Shaffer; son, Blake Bastible; mother and father-in-law, Betty and Travis Bastible; maternal grandparents, Paul and Elsie Shaffer; brother, Duane Carlisle.

He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Bridget Bastible Bond of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Kayla and William Wyrick of Idabel, OK, Kasey and Janson Smalling of Valliant, OK; granddaughters, Blakeleigh Brown of the home, Jayda and Logan Bond of Idabel, OK, Kinsley and Ember Makerney of Valliant, OK; aunt and uncle, Joan and Floyd Miles of Thackerville, OK; special friends, Jeff Lafon, Kitty Krohne, Terri Bone, Ed Bordner; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and special friends, as well as friends that became family, The Moshpit Crue.

Chris worked many years as a millwright in sawmills but preferred his work in welding and fabrication. Chris enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family because his was always biggest, piddling in his shop, arguing with all eight of the women in his life at the Estrogen Estates, fussing over chicken poop, roughhousing with his pit bull, Diesel, using his sarcasm to see how many eyes would roll, cleaning the septic system after Moshpit Crue left, running people out of the room with ACF (check your colon), wearing his pink, fuzzy grippy socks and telling everyone “I told you so.” He was also known for his honor, respect, and keeping to his word. He gave the best brutally honest advice, even if you didn’t want to hear it. He always said you have two dates in your life, but the most important part was the dash. His dash was beautiful and well lived. He accepted cancer and never let it slow him down. He spent his time since his diagnosis loving his family, teaching his family to live off the land, telling anyone who would listen about how bad the government is, working when he shouldn’t, making his friends feel important, and telling people how good God is. To know Chris is to love Chris, and if you didn’t, he didn’t care.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Clardy Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Cole Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024 at Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
