David Lawrence Cook, age 66, of Idabel, Oklahoma, entered into eternal rest on April 2,
2025. He was born on October 2, 1958, to Willie Edward Cook and Grace Cook (Moody).
David was preceded in death by his father, Willie Edward Cook; and three brothers, Melvin
Cook, Jerry Cook, and Jim Cook.
David is survived by his son, David Andrew Cook; his mother, Grace Cook; his sisters,
Donna Massey and Louise Griffin; his brother, Dale Cook; and many nieces, nephews,
great nieces, and great nephews. He is also survived by his former spouse, Patricia Cook
(Edgett), and their daughters Amanda Ratcliff (Elston) and Carrie Gunville (Elston), who
were a cherished part of his life.
David grew up an active member of First Baptist Church in Broken Bow. He graduated in
1976 from Broken Bow High School and went on to graduate from Southeastern Oklahoma
State University in 1980.
After graduation David moved to Sherman, TX and worked as an engineer and retired from
Texas Instruments after 37 years of dedicated service. He loved his family deeply and spent
much of his time enjoying life with them. In his earlier years, David was an avid fisherman
and loved being on the lake, fishing with family and friends. He also enjoyed shooting guns,
a pastime he shared with those closest to him. In addition, David was passionate about
history, had a love of reading, and music, which he enjoyed with his son David and sister
Donna.
David will be remembered for his warm heart, his devotion to his family, and the joy he
brought to those around him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation and chapel service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Clardy Funeral
Service, 1201 Lincoln Rd, Idabel, OK 74745. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm, with the
chapel service starting at 2:00 pm.
