David Martin Obituary

David Bradley Martin was born June 25, 1946 to Bradley O. and Louise Martin in Durant, Oklahoma. He passed away February 18, 2022 at Texarkana, Texas.

David grew up in the Durant, Oklahoma area. He served his country in the US Army during Vietnam, before making his home in Idabel, Ok. He began a career with Lone Star Gas Company, which later became Oklahoma Natural Gas, where he worked until his retirement in 2008. He also retired as a volunteer firefighter with the Idabel Fire Department. In recent years, he resided in the Eagletown, Ok area.

David enjoyed many activities during his life such as hunting, fishing, woodwork, and gardening. He also loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren, with whom he instilled a love for the outdoors. David always had a positive outlook on life and his attitude was felt by those around him. He was a man who never met a stranger and would do anything he could to help someone in need. His love for others was expressed throughout his life. 

He married Loretta Gail Denison on August 24, 1968. They shared 37 years together before Gail passed away in February of 2006. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and in-laws: John R. Sr. and Mary Ella Denison, Brothers-in-law: Marvin Metts, Reginald “Ricky” Denison, John R. Denison Jr., and W.B. “Hoppy” Denison, Sister-in-law; Doris Brown. 

He is survived in death by his children: John and Jill Martin of Idabel, and Michelle and Tommy Smith of Idabel; Grandkids: Michael and Ashley Martin, Bradley and Amanda Robertson, Ashton Martin, Aaron Martin, Cassandra Martin, and Emilee Martin; (8) eight great-grandchildren; Sister: Brenda Metts, Brother-in-law; James “Jimmy” Denison, Special friend; Pat McFarland, and his best friend; Larry Lambert and wife, Angie; numerous other relatives and many friends. 

A celebration of life service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Denison Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. John Hicks and Bro. Deanie Lambert officiating.  

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
