Deborah “Debbie” Lee Nichols, 64 of Garvin, passed away April 18, 2024 at McCurtain
Memorial Hospital. She was born July 10, 1959, the daughter of Rodger and Vera Hargiss.
She married David Nichols, June 7, 1985 at Clarksville, Texas.
Throughout her school age life, Debbie was very active in Girl Scouts, gymnastics, singing and
as a young adult, she enjoyed bowling with her bowling club.
First and foremost, Debbie loved God. She had a servant’s heart, was kind, giving, and took on
the role of host anytime anyone would visit. She was quick to serve her sweet tea and even if
you opted to pass on it, you would be drinking it by the time you left anyway. Her salty fried
chicken and mashed potatoes were the best you’d ever eaten. She enjoyed gardening and
always had a porch full of flowers. She was an amazing wife, mother and was most proud of
her role as Nana.
Debbie is survived by her husband, David Nichols; son, Cody Nichols of Garvin; daughter,
Heather Onstott and husband Ben of Durant; grandson, Landon Laster of Durant; mother-in-law,
Sue Nichols of Clarksville, Texas; nephews, Jonathan Nichols and Bridget, Brian Nichols;
nieces, Chrystal Smith and husband Lonnie, Kayla Manginell and husband Lane; sister-in-law,
Anna Presley and husband Jimmy; brother-in-law, Donnie Nichols; great nieces and nephews,
Bristol, Aubrey, Shelbi, Kade, Ty; and numerous friends.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law, Glen Nichols and nephew, Jeff
Nichols.
