Earlene Gills, 86 of the Shultz Community, passed away July 26, 2021 at her home. She was born June 7, 1935 at the Shultz Community, the daughter of Robert and Dovie Saul Hammonds.
Earlene loved bingo! She loved going to the casino, canning, sewing, going to garage sales and gossiping. She was always joking around and had an ornery side.
Earlene leaves to cherish her memory her daughters and sons-in-law, Emma and Claude Spence of Shultz, Dove and Bobby Cortez of Houston, Texas, Dean Bourke and Jorge Elizondo of Stafford, Texas; sister, Katherine Gray of Shultz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Jennie Hammonds of Shultz, “Brittle” and Peggy Hammonds of Shultz, Mac and Annice Hammonds of Sherman, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thad Gills; sons, Anthony Howard and Bobby Howard; brothers, Tilman Hammonds and Bud Hammonds; grandsons, David Bourke and Sonny Cortez; great-grandsons, Baby Jake and Joey Gonzales; and sister-in-law, Linda Woods.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Mike Mings officiating. Interment will follow in the Redland Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
