Elliston Cecil Durant

Elliston Cecil Durant, 81 of Idabel, passed away September 11, 2020 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital.  He was born October 5, 1938 at Millerton, Oklahoma, the son of Eddie and Minnie Wesley Durant.   He was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County.  

Cecil was a carpenter and contractor.  He enjoyed watching football, hunting and fishing. In his younger days, he enjoyed training hunting dogs.  He also enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden and sharing them with others. 

He considered himself a cowboy and always dressed in a cowboy hat and boots, especially when going anywhere, he would always dress his best.   He enjoyed riding horses.

He was a loving husband and uncle. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Jo Brail; brother, William Durant; sisters, Laura Durant, Francille Durant, Rosie Tidwell, Bonnie Hughes, and Dorothy Louise Powell.

Cecil is survived by his nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Wheelock Cemetery in Millerton with Bro. Sonny Dense officiating.  Interment will follow.  

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
