Gayle Kid Shockley, age 83, passed away February 28, 2026, in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born May 26, 1942, to Earl Shockley and Rose (Rucastle) Shockley.
Gayle was known as a hardworking man who believed in doing things the right
way. Throughout his life he worked in ranching and farming and had a deep love
for raising cattle. Whether he was welding, fixing something that needed repairing,
or helping someone with a project, Gayle was always willing to step in and lend a
hand. Those who knew him best remember him as an honest man with a kind heart
and a strong work ethic. He had a natural way of connecting with people and
enjoyed visiting and sharing stories with friends and neighbors. Gayle was proud to
be a Mason and a Shriner and valued the friendships and fellowship that came with
those organizations.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors on his farm. One of his
favorite pastimes was trotline fishing. He was very proud of becoming a sawyer
and millwright. Gayle also loved his animals and enjoyed the companionship of his
dogs, Getti and Ringo, and his cat, Rowdy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Rose Shockley; wife, Bettye
Shockley; two grandchildren, Thomas Wells and Justin Todd Wells; and
stepdaughter, Sylvia Littleton.
He is survived by his children, Orion Shockley and wife Cayla, Amber Shockley,
Becky Parsons and husband Scott, Gaylon Shockley, Rosemary Dean and husband
Rick, Patricia Shockley Gross and husband Ronnie Gross, and Carolyn Gore;
brother, Ursel Shockley; sister, Jonnie Lou Hooper; special nieces, Cindy Tipton
