Hester Hazel Murray was born February 2, 1955 to Johnny and Ivolene Hurst in DeKalb, Texas. She died August 5, 2019 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She had lived most of her life in Tom, Oklahoma.
She and Kenneth Murray were married on March 2, 1973 in Idabel. They were married for forty-two years. She retired after twenty-five years at the USPS to care for him until his death in 2015. After his death, she returned to work delivering mail again.
She loved her family and friends. She liked Facebook and giving “weather reports” in Tom. She liked going to the casino when given the chance to.
Hester is survived by her children, Cecila Murray of Tom, Kevin Murray of DeQueen, Kerri and Cecil Kegley of Tom; grandchildren, Devin and JD Murray of DeQueen, Emily Loman of Tom, Kayla and Casey Kegley also of Tom; special adopted grandchildren, Jarod Wright and Katelin Peterson; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul and Della Spears of DeQueen and Jimmy Hurst of Tom; sisters and brothers-in-law, Floetta and JD Ledbetter of Idabel and Theresa and Kenneth Green; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Patty and Mike Moore; brother-in-law, Benny Murray; several aunts, uncles, nieces nephews, cousins and her post office family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Kenneth Murray.
A celebration of life memorial will be held at 10:00 a.m. August 17, 2019 at the Tom Baptist Church Activity Building.
