Hunter McPeak Obituary

“To be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord.” On Dec. 31st, 2022 at 19 years of age, Hunter Richard Douglas McPeak was welcomed home and into the presence of his Lord.

Hunter was born on September 5th, 2003 to Sarah Hairrell (McPeak) and Bo McPeak. He was a 2022 graduate of Idabel High School and a proud member of the Idabel Warrior Football Team. Following graduation, Hunter attended Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology where he was studying to become an electrician.

Hunter was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Idabel, where he was active in the 3n1 Ministries. Hunter had a heart for people. He had a smile so big and bright that it was only overshadowed by his laugh. He loved making people laugh. He was mischievous, fun loving, and so full of joy and life.

Death has not conquered Hunter. We rejoice in his salvation but know that he also lives on through the selfless act of organ and tissue donation with over 70 recipients receiving the gift of life through Hunter’s donations.

Hunter is cherished and missed by his parents, Sarah Hairrell and Shannon Daves of Idabel, and Bo and Diedra McPeak of the Pollard Community. Hunter was one of four children. He loved and was loved by all of his siblings. He leaves behind his two brothers, Rylan McPeak and Brendan Ashalintubbi, and his sister Madielyn McPeak. Hunter was blessed to be loved by many grandparents; Marilyn and Richard McPeak of the Pollard Community, Nita and Doug Hairrell of Clayton, Oklahoma, Brenda and Kelsie Keeney of Idabel, and Luanne and Gabe Daves of Valliant. Treasuring his memory are his aunts and uncles, Mark and Brittany McPeak, Sonya and Curtis Morris, Penny and Jessie Sharrah, Mandy and Casey Daniel, Misty and Jimmy Ward, Trudy and Dusty Daves, Lane and Michelle Ashalintubbi, Matt Ashalintubbi, D’Anna Ashalintubbi; and numerous cousins and friends.

Hunter was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Will and Juanita McPeak, Vanita Queen and Perry Williams; maternal great-grandparents, Gene and LaVerne Woods, Joey and Irene Hairrell; and grandfather, David Ashalintubbi.

A celebration of Hunter’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the Idabel High School Auditorium with Bro. Andrew Riddle, Bro. Doug Clements and Bro. Chris Carey officiating. Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hunter McPeak Memorial Scholarship Fund at McCurtain County National Bank.
