James Brock Obituary

James “Jim” Raymond Brock was born June 20, 1945 in Liberal, Kansas, the eldest son of Glenn and Gayle Mitchell Brock. Jim lived most of his life in Texas. He met and married his first love, Elizabeth Taylor Brock in Irving, Texas. Together they had eight children. Jim proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky and was tasked with running an artillery tank that ultimately left his hearing impaired. He also served as a cook in the Army and studied chemistry. Jim finished out his military service with the United States Army National Guard. Jim retired from the United States Postal Service where he served as a dedicated mail delivery person for over thirty years. Jim loved the Lord. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Idabel, Oklahoma. He enjoyed volunteering throughout the church, but especially liked coordinating and serving with the church’s food pantry. Jim had a quick wit and a wicked sense of humor that people often challenged and few times surpassed. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in many states across the U.S. but some of his favorite places were Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. He loved anywhere that he could go that had mountains. Jim was also a fan of the Texas Rangers and loved watching them play ball. Jim met his second love, Julie Sayers, in Idabel, Oklahoma on December 4, 2014. Jim was Julie’s true love and best friend. They were married on May 30, 2015 in Longview, Texas. They spent almost eight wonderful years together. They were the best of friends and truly loved each other’s company. They both had a passion for traveling. Together they traveled to many states and had numerous lifetime adventures and heartfelt memories. It was on one of their such travels that Jim passed away on Wednesday, March 15th in Navarre, Florida. He was 77 years old. Although Jim is no longer physically with us his love for others will continue through his gift of eye and tissue donation. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Gayle Mitchell Brock, his first love and mother of his children Elizabeth Taylor Brock, and a nephew Timothy Brock. Jim is survived by his wife and best friend, Julie Brock. His children Crystie Owen (Troy), Patti Brock (Ilana), Bill Brock, Sheri Froehlich (John), Cindy Brock, Theresa Gossett (Don), Ronnie Brock (J Tankersley), and Bekkie Hunt (Jeromy).
