James Campbell, Jr. Obituary

James J. Campbell Jr. passed away June 18, 2020 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was born March 4, 1935, the son of J.J. Campbell Sr. and Ethel Brady Campbell. He was the sixth of nine children and lived the majority of his life in Idabel. 

A graduate of Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Education, James taught for a few years before becoming the owner of McCurtain Farm Supply.   He retired from there after thirty-three years of serving the agricultural needs of McCurtain County.  

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idabel, serving as Deacon since 1977.  He served as a field representative for the Oklahoma Farmer’s Union for fifteen years, the Oklahoma Beef Council for six years with two of those years as chairman, fair board member, president of the Idabel Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Rotary member, Idabel National Bank Board Member and a veteran of the United States Army.  

James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Haven Campbell of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Charles Adair of Edmond; grandchildren, Alexa Adair and Douglas Adair II; sister, Betty Burns (Jay) of Oklahoma City; brother, Raymond Campbell of Stillwater, and numerous other relatives and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, C.L. Campbell, William Campbell, Violet Campbell, Paul J. Campbell, Mildred Pitts, and Lucille Davis. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Idabel with Bro. Shawn Robberson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Canfield Cemetery.
