James E Lane, Sr.
May 5, 1934 ~ April 23, 2023 (age 88) 88 Years Old
James Edwin Lane, Sr. passed away on April 23, 2023. He was born May 5, 1934 in the Oak Hill
Community to parents, Clarence and Vivian Lane. He married Nancy Griggs on September 25, 1954 and
the two had five children, Brad, Clarence “Buddy”, James, Cindy and Joe.
James served as Oklahoma State Representative from 1966 to 1968 and as and Oklahoma State Senator
from 1968 to 1980. He dedicated most of his life serving the people of Southeast Oklahoma. He was
known as the bridge maker and worked hard to make the Southeast Oklahoma area known.
He liked going to the lake. He loved to garden later in life. He enjoyed talking and visiting and spending
time with family.
In 1991, he married his current wife, Rebecca.
James is survived by his wife Rebecca Lane; sister, Joy Orr; sons, James Lane and wife Karyn, Joe Lane
and wife Tracy, Michael Marshall and wife Kara; daughters, Cindy Cannon and husband Jaime, and
Delora Marshall; grandchildren, John Robert Lane, Stephen Lane, Jeremie Jackman and wife Bobbie,
Amber Box and husband Ryan, Cassie Jackman, Janson Jackman, Jessica Lane, Joshua Lane, Laynee
Marshall; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Brad Lane and Clarence “Buddy” Lane; grandson, Sky
Lane; and brother-in-law, Richard Orr.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Clardy
Funeral Service Chapel with Clark LeForce officiating.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Clardy Funeral Service
