James Edward Segraves, 72, of Haworth passed away November 5, 2020, surrounded by family in Shreveport, Louisiana. Jim was born the 2nd month and 3rd day in 1948 to W.T. and Lorene Segraves in Idabel, Oklahoma. He was a member of Haworth First Assembly of God.
Jim was a working man who proclaimed himself a jack of all trades and a master of none. He was, however, a master talker who never tired of reminiscing. He worked on cars and trucks and said often, “It’s cheaper to fix an old one than it is to buy a new one.” He was a truck driver by trade and retired to driving a school bus and raising his cows. He served the Lord by doing for others, often before doing for himself. He loved his family (and his dogs), and the grief they bear now is proof of that love.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory his daughter and son-in-law Dr. Shawna and Mickey Duncan of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and their girls: Jalynn, Mabry, Rayce and Channing Duncan; his daughter Melissa Cross of Haworth, Oklahoma, and her children, Emma and Brody Fields; his grandaughter Brennen and husband Dayton Lewis of Holly Creek, Oklahoma, and their children Bentley and Dixanne Lewis; his siblings Lenette Sadler of Carrolton, Texas, Ann and husband Larry Pollard of Pollard, Oklahoma, John and wife Patricia Segraves of Shinewell, Oklahoma, Ronnie and wife Lisa Segraves of Ellisville, Mississippi, and Glen and wife Pam Foster of Hurst, Texas; and, his go-to, his nephew, Neil “Slim” Pollard. Jim was also survived by many more cherished nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dewaine Segraves and Stephen Foster.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2020, at the Haworth First Assembly of God with Pastor Mark Davidson officiating. Interment will follow at the Redland Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel. In lieu of flowers a donation in his memory can be made to the American Kidney Fund at www.kidneyfund.org
