Jeremiah Davis Obituary

Rev. Jeremiah Davis (Squinky and Uncle Squinky) was the first child of ten born to Jeremiah Davis. Sr. and Mary M Muldrew Davis on May 21, 1940 in Texarkana, Arkansas in a little community known as Dixon.  Rev. Jeremiah passed away in Paris, Texas on July 11, 2021 at Paris Regional Medical Center. 

At a young age Squinky joined the New Zion Baptist Church at Lost Prairie.  At this time he attended Hervey Elementary School and attended high school at Booker T. Washington High in Texarkana, Arkansas.  Following high school he moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas. 

Jeremiah was a pastor of the Galilee Baptist Church and a faithful member of the Spring Hill Baptist Church until his health began to fail.  He was employed by the Idabel School system.  

Uncle Squinky enjoyed cooking, gardening, and working hard. He was an all-around good guy.  He was a good daddy and he loved his family and spending time with them.  He especially loved to hang out with his nephews.  He was happy and just loved life.  

He is survived by his children, Brenda Davis, Margaret Davis, Willie Davis, Brian Davis all of Texarkana, Arkanasas and Anne’J Davis-Brown of Hot Springs, Shirley Davis and Wanda Davis of Dallas; twenty-seven grandchildren, Jacqueline Soloman, Roger Vann, Earnica Solomon, Keith Davis, Albert Davis, Ricky Davis, Jerry Davis, Laronda Davis, Barbara Davis, Moniesha Davis, Vandale Davis Brent Davis, Sherladis Johnson, Brendia Wilson, Billy Davis, Brendasia Johnson, Tamecia Davis, Drameka Davis, Shameka Davis, April Davis, Brittney Davis; brothers, Roy Davis of Las Vegas, Jerry Lee (LaResie) Davis of Idabel;  sisters, Thelma Johnson and Shirley Cotton both of Idabel, Rosie (Kenneth) Beasley of Kansas City, Missouri; very special friend and caregiver, Shirley Green; thirty-five great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Davis; one brother, Richard J. Davis; two sisters, Vera Hawkins, Jessie Mae Davis; four children, Margarete Solomon, Vivian Davis, Stephanie Davis, Shertami Easley; and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. July 16, 2021 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
