Jerry William Harris, 76 of the Harris Community, passed away at his home. He was born February 27, 1945 at Hugo, Oklahoma, the son of Hastings Louis Harris and Pauline Tucker Harris. He married Susie Ridenour at Hugo, Oklahoma on February 6, 1974.
Jerry was drafted into the United States Army at the age of twenty. He was an exceptional cook. In fact, he was placed as a cook in the Army and he would proudly brag about how he kept his kitchen. After his service he began a career welding and was a sought-after pipeline welder. He still welded around the house and for his friends and neighbors up until his death. He was a hard worker. He enjoyed ranching and tending to his cattle, gardening and sharing his crops with friends.
Jerry loved to cut up with his family and friends. He was very proud of his family. He was a good friend, neighbor, father and grandfather.
Jerry is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Danielle Harris of Cookeville, Texas; grandchildren, Pierce Harris and Paycas Raulston of Cookville, Texas; brothers, Jimmy Dale and Doris Harris of Idabel, and Paul Lewis and Cathy Harris of Sadler, Texas; sister, Wilma Jean Frey of Idabel; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susie Harris; daughter, Jennifer Marie Harris; and grandson, Zachary Manuel.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Harris Cemetery with Bro. Stephen Joe Fanning officiating. Interment will follow.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
