John L. Covington

John Covington of Idabel, Oklahoma was born October 13, 1939 in Hugo, Oklahoma, the son of Robert and Ora Lee (Norrid) Covington. He passed away April 16, 2019 at Paris, Texas.  John and Donita McCary were married September 19, 1980.  He was an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting and riding his four wheeler in the mountains.  Another favorite hobby was doing woodwork in his shop, but his absolute favorite thing was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tammy McKeever Freeman and son-in-law, Kelley Freeman.

He is survived by his wife of thirty eight years, Donita; sons, Don (Charlene) Covington of Pineville, Louisiana and Doyle (Donna) Covington of Foreman, Arkansas; daughters, Lorraine (Jimmy) Robberson of Hallsville, Texas and Misty (Scott) Rowland of Idabel, Oklahoma; brothers, Roger (Judy) Covington of Oklahoma, Ross Covington of Smithville, Oklahoma and Milburn (Ruthie) Covington of Hugo, Oklahoma; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Dianne Voyles of Idabel, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Robert Don, James, Bronson, Dwayne, Josh, Kerri, Layla and Cassie; twenty-two great-grandchildren with one blessing on the way and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Elwayne Schaffer officiating.  Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery, Idabel, Oklahoma.  

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
