Karen Reed, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was called home on September 13, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on October 15, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, Karen was a spirited soul who brought joy and light to all who knew her. Her journey on Earth was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering faith in the Lord.
Karen grew up in Idabel, where she attended school and discovered her passion for cheerleading and singing. As a teenager, during a transformative trip to Falls Creek, she accepted Christ into her heart, a decision that would guide her throughout her life. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her active membership at First Baptist Church, where she found joy in singing praises to the Lord whenever she could.
On November 12, 1980, Karen married the love of her life, Danny Reed, in the very church that nurtured her spiritual growth. Together, they embarked on a journey that led them to Arlington, Texas, where Karen began her professional career at EDS under Ross Perot's leadership. Her dedication and talent soon drew her into the banking industry, where she flourished for 16 years, culminating her career as a respected branch manager.
Karen's greatest joy came from her family. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters, Kristi, Nicole, and Whitney, who were the pride of her life. Her love for them was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with her 11 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Known for her outgoing nature and infectious sense of humor, Karen never met a stranger. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She was a jokester at heart, always finding ways to bring smiles and laughter to those around her. Her passion for life and her faith inspired those who knew her, as she lived each day with gratitude and grace.
Karen leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, cherished by her father, Charles Watkins, her sister, Charlotte Watkins, her devoted husband, Danny Reed, and her beloved daughters, Kristi Bailey, Nicole Gray, and Whitney Bruner. She is now reunited with her mother, Gladys Watkins, in the arms of the Lord.
As we celebrate Karen's life, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. Her journey was one of faith, love, and joy, and her memory will forever be a beacon of hope and inspiration to us all. May her soul rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of God.
