KATHERINE DEVOR LOVE HAMILTON
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from
me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” ~ Matthew 11:28-30
Katherine (Kathy) Love Hamilton was born on November 9, 1937 in Idabel, Oklahoma, to Robert M. Love and Vertie
Splawn Love. She passed away peacefully, to find rest for her soul on June 14, 2024, at the age of 86, in Tyler, Texas.
After graduating from Idabel High School in 1955, a very reserved Kathy Love made a brave solo move to Fort
Worth, Texas to attend business school, while living at the YWCA. This launched her career in accounting in Fort
Worth, and Las Vegas, and in accounting and interior design in California, before she moved to Tyler in 1992 to be
close to her brother. She retired from the Water Utilities Department of the City of Tyler.
Kathy enjoyed sewing, big band music, interior design, working in her yard, and researching nutrition and health.
Always focused on healthy living, she continued to exercise daily, even after entering a memory care facility in
2021. She had a sweet disposition, an easy laugh, and a dazzling smile that stayed with her until her final days.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her daughter, Terry Lynn Slaughter.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Sue Love of Flint, Texas, her son
Christopher Lindsey Slaughter of Apache Junction, Arizona, nephew Rob Love and wife Brandi of Flint, Texas, and
several cousins.
The family wishes to thank our friend Danna Simms, the staff of Meadow Lake Senior Living, the staff of Azalea
Heights Nursing Home, and Heart to Heart Hospice, especially Nichole Wilkerson, RN, Raven Buffin, and Chaplain
Bryan Grant for their tender and compassionate care of our beloved sister.
Kathy will be buried next to her parents in Idabel, Oklahoma, at a private service under the direction of Clardy
Funeral Home.
“May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.” ~ William Shakespeare
