Larry Allen DeTar

Larry Allen DeTar, otherwise known simply as DeTar, 71, passed from this life on October 6, 2021.  He was born September 2, 1950, in Ukiha, CA, to Wayne DeTar and Janet (Pine) Welch.

After graduating from Mustang High School in 1968, DeTar proudly served the United States in the Air National Guard.  He moved to Octavia in 1975 and spent the rest of his life logging, hunting, fishing and racing in and around Southeast Oklahoma.  DeTar enjoyed working with his hands and helping people as a mechanic, but his one true passion was racing.  He would race anything, anywhere with anybody.  If you ever got to spend time with DeTar at the racetrack it was a special day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Janet.

DeTar is survived by his children, Tom DeTar, and wife Brandie, and Amanda DeTar, all of Piedmont, OK; brother, Tom DeTar, and wife Rita, of Brentwood, CA; sisters, Julie Rodriguez, Peggy Welch, and Sharon and Wayne Dial; grandchildren, Jaden, Abby, Brock, and Caty; special friends, Darrel and Andrea Moyer, Frank and Tina Bunce, Ronny and Missy Meyer, Gary and Tami Robbins, David and Kathy Carter, and many other special friends and family.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
