Laura Ann “Pistol” Smith Nowlin, 61 of Deberry, Texas, passed away November 25, 2021. She was born September 19, 1960 at Idabel, Oklahoma, the daughter of Polly (Stout) Smith and Lewis Smith. Pistol married the love of her life, Richard Nowlin, March 12, 2016.
Pistol was larger than life. She loved cooking, kids and things that sparkle. She was a nurturer to animals and to people. She would take in any stray cat or dog and care for them. She loved helping people, especially veterans, and would volunteer her time to help get them benefits they were entitled to. She was a true friend to everyone.
Pistol leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Richard Nowlin; children, Meranda Ann Brown, Jerry “J.R.” Lynn Strawn Jr., Bryce Dollar, Brad Dollar, Britni Ansley, Danny Nowlin, Adam Nowlin; mother, Polly “Smith” Gifford and Terry; brother, Paul “Buddy” Smith; sisters, Mari LeForce and Scott, Sonya Bivings and Anthony, and Lisa Pamplin; grandchildren, TyAnn, Tanith, Pepper, Kole, Tripp, Payson, McKenzie, Cannon, Kaleb and Addie; sister-in-law and best friend, Bridget Calhoun; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis “Son” Smith; brother, Skippy Smith; maternal grandparents, Guy and Celeste Smith; paternal grandparents, Howard and Laura Stout.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Canfield Cemetery Pavilion with Rodney Watkins officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Canfield Cemetery Pavilion prior to the funeral service.
