Leatha Mae Fields, 65 of Tom, passed away October 25, 2023 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel
surrounded by her family. She was born July 18, 1958, the daughter of Isaac and Minnie Fields. She was
a lifelong church member and affiliated with the Community Missionary Baptist Church at Tom,
Oklahoma.
Leatha loved helping others and had a very caring heart. She loved her community and didn’t leave
home very often. She kept tabs on her community members and enjoyed keeping it clean by picking up
cans. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, cooking and taking care of children.
Leatha is survived by her daughter, Kimberlyn King of Idabel; and grandson, DeVonté Washington. She
had a very close and abounding relationship with her nephews, Freddie and Edward Fields of the home.
She is also survived by her great niece and caretaker, Briana Fields; sisters, Ola Turner and husband, Joe
of Tom, Wanda Cursh of Haworth; best friends, Glenda Harris of Tom and Barbara Ann Griffin of Lawton,
Oklahoma; numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and a many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Fields, Sr. and Minnie “Sally” Fields; son, Kendal Fields;
sisters, Ophelia Fields and Mary Fields; brothers, Sylvester, Isaac Jr, Johnny Mack, Leroy James, known as
“Tom Low” and Ray Charles.
A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Community
Missionary Baptist Church at Tom, Oklahoma. Interment will follow in the Alfred French Cemetery,
Foreman, Arkansas.
