Marilyn (Dodderer) Rogers

Marilyn Ann “Dodderer” Rogers went to be with her Lord, and her beloved mother Nellie, on September 15, 2021 in Idabel, Oklahoma.  She was born October 14, 1950 in Clarksville, Texas, the daughter of Jimmie and Nellie Mae Dodderer.   

Marilyn lived the early days of her life in Valliant, Oklahoma where in June of 1964 she first met the love of her life, Haskell Rogers.  Only fourteen at the time, their love was not allowed to bloom and contact was lost when Marilyn moved with her family to California.   

In California, Marilyn graduated from Boron High School in 1968 and soon after married Tom Owens with whom she had two children-both boys, the oldest, Richard Paul Owens was born in 1969 and the youngest Thomas Edward Everett Owens was born in 1971.  In the early eighties Marilyn married Mike Valenzuela with whom she had her only daughter, Michelle Ann “Valenzuela” McClure. 

All the days of her California life Marilyn looked forward to summertime trips to Oklahoma to visit family and friends.  On one such trip Marilyn happened to run into Haskell again.  Thirty-five years had passed but the love was still there.  Marilyn and Haskell were married September 18, 2000 and lived at Millerton for almost twenty-one years. When they married they swore their love forever, not only till death. Haskell remains committed to continuing their relationship when God calls him home. For all her life Marilyn was a caregiver to everyone she knew. She particularly loved caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Jimmie and Nellie Mae Dodderer, and big brother Willie Edward "Buster" Dodderer.  

Surviving to cherish her memory are husband Haskell Rogers; children Rodger and wife Charlotte Rogers, Adam and wife Paula Rogers, Richard Owens, Thomas and wife Kari Owens, Michelle and husband Kody McClure; grandchildren Russell and Brittney Rogers, Luke and Kaitlin Rogers, Shawn and wife Tianna Owens, Sarah Johnson, Tyler Owens, Owen and wife Aphrodite Hall, Ethan Hall, Taryn Smith-McClure, and Randon McClure. Great grandchildren Wyatt Rogers, Paisley Rogers, Alexander Gutierrez, and James Owens; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Marilyn's greatest joy was being surrounded by family and friends and attempting to overfeed every one of them! She will be greatly missed. 

A memorial will take place at a later date.
