Mary Elizabeth Williams passed away at the age of 75 on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at her residence in Wright City, Oklahoma. Mary was born May 7, 1949 at the home of her parents, John Raymond and Gladys Paullette King. Mary was a graduate of Wright City High School, Class of 1967. Mary married Edward Richard Mathis on May 13, 1969 in Muskogee, Oklahoma after he returned home from Vietnam. Mary and Edward spent the next year in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After moving to Tulsa, Mary and Edward were blessed with their only son, Chad Edward Mathis.
Moving forward in life, Mary married Clifford “Buzz” Williams on March 12, 1982 in Clarksville, Texas. Throughout her life, she held various occupations, which included planting trees with WeyCo, working at the Wright City Sawmill, and a caretaker for Myrtle Edwards. In addition to her professional occupations, she was a devoted mother and housewife throughout her life.
Mary enjoyed and appreciated traveling with Buzz on projects throughout the United States and Jamaica. She profoundly enjoyed herself and took immense pride working in the flower beds at their residence. In addition to her love of gardening, she enjoyed creating photo albums, loving her family and friends, laughing, and spending quality time with her numerous grandchildren. Later in life, Mary found herself another passion; she enjoyed taking care of Buzz’s cats.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 41 years, Clifford “Buzz” Williams.
She left behind numerous family members including her son, Chad Mathis; step-sons, Marcus Williams, Duane Williams; sisters, Joann Jones of Vacaville, California, Barbara Towery of Ringold, Oklahoma; brother, Milton King of Denison, Texas; grand-children, Kyle Williams, Brandon Williams, Zach Williams, Alex Kwasigroch, Cory Williams, Emily Williams Eastep, Morgan Mathis Barron, Macee Mathis Mullett, Max Mathis; great grandchildren, Hunter Williams, Thomas Williams, Isiah Eastep, Ari Williams, Grayson Eastep, Joel Eastep, Kenji Williams, Liam Eastep, Lonon Mullett, Mickie Barron, Liam Mullett, Monte Barron; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2024 at Clardy Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2024 at Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
