Mary Nell (Carrell) Owens

Mary Nell Owens, 86 of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away December 26, 2022 at Huntington, West
Virginia. She was born January 6, 1936 at Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of Harvey and Georgia
Bennett Carrell. She married Elva Owens on July 11, 1953 at Clarksville, Texas. She was a sweet Christian
lady who was ready to meet her Lord and Savior.
Devoted to raising her children and grandchildren, Mary enjoyed being a full-time mom, grandma and
great-grandma. She enjoyed playing with her grandkids, cooking, writing poetry and decorating for
holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was friendly, accepted everyone and never met a
stranger.
Mary is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Lawanda Owens of Haworth, Rusty and
Peggy Owens of Idabel, Tracy and Amy Owens of Kingsport, Tennessee; daughters, Wanda Eades of
Eufaula, Margaret Lewis and Jeff Claybrook of Simms, Texas, Donna Dillion of Swords Creek, Virginia,
Lori Meehan of Virginia, Melissa and Tim Ruff of Cleveland, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack
Carrell and Christine of Albion, Kenneth and Mildren Carrell of Albion; sister and brother-in-law, Darlene
and CL Friend of Floresville, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, eleven great-
great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elva Owens; granddaughters, Misty Simpson and
Kassandra Owens; great-grandson, Luke Simpson; sons-in-law, Jimmie Eades, Sr., Michael Dillion and
Altus Lewis; twelve siblings; close friends and neighbors, Oma and Robert Shiro.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 2, 2023 at the Clardy Funeral
Service Chapel with Kenneth Carrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Canfield Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2023 at the Clardy Funeral Service
Chapel.
