Mavis Bray Clecker, 73 of the Holly Creek Community, passed away July 19, 2024 at Conway,
Arkansas. She was born August 7, 1950 in Fresno, California, the daughter of John Andrew
Allen and Okley Penland Allen.
Mavis spent many years working at the Hagle and Kellwood Sewing Factories where she last
held a supervisor position. She also worked for Husqvarna in DeQueen.
Although she enjoyed gardening, sometimes it was so much work that it was a job. She canned
over 2500 cans of various fruits and vegetables one summer from her garden while she worked
full time and a full-time mom.
She dearly loved her 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, John and Okley Allen; husband, Clarence Bray;
son, Robert Pierce; daughter, Sandra Lynn Baker; step-son, Jerry Don Bray; step-daughter-in-
law, Kathy Bray; and dear friend, Jerry Brown.
She is survived by her step-son, James Bray; grandchildren, Shawn Baker Jr. and Khristen
Baker; great-grandchildren, Jayden Baker and Kinsley Baker; brothers, Wesley Allen and wife
Patty, Clifford Allen and wife Chris; sister, Brenda Hartsfield and husband Gary; step-
grandchildren, David and Brittney; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mavis was laid to rest next to her beloved husband Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the Rock Hill
Cemetery.
