Melvin Noahubi

Melvin Noahubi passed away September 30, 2025, in Idabel, Oklahoma at the age of 72. Melvin was born February 9, 1953, the son of Battiest and Mary (Wade) Noahubi.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Justin Johnson; grandson, Russian Gaskey; brothers, Norvell Noahubi and Benjamin Wade; and nephews, Jaren Noahubi and Angelo Tinajero.

Melvin was affiliated with the Kulli Chito Presbyterian Church and had lived in McCurtain County all his life. He graduated from Battiest High School in 1971 and started logging soon after for Weyerhauser. He was very passionate about logging.

Melvin enjoyed visiting with people especially at the community center. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Melvin loved spending time with his family and friends. He was very proud of them and whole heartedly loved his nephews and nieces. He stood firm with his advice telling them “work hard and never miss work”.  He was very outgoing and would always lend a hand.  He always had a smile on his face but especially when listening to music from Elvis.

Melvin leaves behind his sons, Tim Noahubi and wife Debbie of Durant, Darren (Diamond) Noahubi and wife Vanessa of Idabel, and Houston Johnson; daughter, Sylvia Johnson; brothers, Alton Noahubi and wife, Darlene, of Bethel, Nolan Noahubi of Bethel; sisters, Pauline McGee, of Dallas, Geraldine Jessie of Dallas, Hylda Tinajero of Wright City, Selina Lopez of Bethel, Loretta Hunt and husband Ray, of Idabel, Asterline Gonzales and husband Adam, of Gonzales, Texas; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; along with other relatives and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, October 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., at the Kulli Chito Presbyterian Church with Bro. Marvin Ludlow officiating. Burial will follow at the Kulli Chito Cemetery. Visitation will be October 2, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00PM, at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel, Idabel, OK.
