Melvin Tadlock, 86 of Idabel, passed away July 30, 2023 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital. He was born
April 8, 1937 at Valliant, Oklahoma, the son of Walter and Ollie Sturgess Tadlock. He married Laura L.
Willborn on April 11, 1958 at Plainview, Texas. He was a member of the Goodwater Masonic Lodge No.
148 and Calvary Baptist Church.
A veteran of the United States Army, Melvin proudly served from 1960 until 1962 active duty followed
by 6 years of reserve.
Melvin was a simple man who was very family oriented. He most loved four things in his life, God, his
family, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed cutting up and aggravating people by playing pranks and joking
with them. He was a great story teller.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Laura L. Tadlock; children, Laura Ray and husband J.R., Melvin Dee
Tadlock and wife Ronda, Johnny Tadlock; nine grandchildren, Thomas E. Rogers, Jr., Jennifer Fuller, Tyler
Tadlock, Brittany Stone, Stryker Tadlock, Amber Stewart, Samantha McReynolds, Cassandra Lockhart,
Jaycee Tadlock; sixteen great-grandchildren, Kealon Kennybrew, Kamden Rodgers, Kendall Young,
Corbin Rodgers, Caleb Blackwell, Kagann Williston, Sydney Ridge, Jaxon Tadlock, Jenson Tadlock, Mya
Stone, Lucy Stone, Ace Stone, Wraithan Kent, Micah McReynolds, Alyssa McReynolds, Mazzy Lockhart;
one great-great-grandchild, Myles Rodgers; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ollie Tadlock; brothers, Charles Tadlock,
Charlie Tadlock, Elmer Tadlock, Elven Tadlock; sisters, Velma Golden, Treva Akin, Nora Frachiseur; and
great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Young.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the Calvary
Missionary Baptist Church in Idabel with Bro. Jason Clark officiating. Military honors and Masonic rights
will conclude services at the church.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at the Clardy Funeral Service
Chapel.
