Nancy Ann Bain, 85, passed away in Valliant, Oklahoma on December 3, 2025. She was born December 17, 1939, to Ralph Smith and Minnie (Norton) Smith.
Nancy was a woman devoted to her faith, family, and community. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Idabel, where she served as an organist for many years, sharing her love for music alongside her daughter, Jia, who accompanied her as pianist. She also served as an assistant Sunday School teacher and dedicated countless hours to Vacation Bible School.
In her early years, Nancy demonstrated her leadership through active involvement with organizations that strengthened both youth and community. She served as a Jaycee Jane member, was a Brownie troop leader and a leader with the local Girl Scouts, earning admiration for her caring heart, steady hand, and ability to inspire others.
She enjoyed cooking for her family, shopping, and loved traveling with her devoted husband, Jack. Nancy was well known for being active in her community and was always willing to lend her support where needed. Above all, Nancy cherished her family, especially the time spent with her grandchildren who were her greatest joy and proudest legacy.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Jack Mitchell Bain; her parents, brother, James “Jim” Smith; and sister, Shirley White.
She is survived by her daughters, Jia Bain Johnson and husband Scott of Valliant, Oklahoma, and Jacksy Walker and husband Gary of Gainesville, Texas; grandchildren, Ali Bain Bryant and husband Ryan of Valliant, Oklahoma, and Zack Walker and wife Kaitlin of Cabot, Arkansas; and great-grandchildren, Eli Walker, Jaxton and Tinzleigh Bryant. Also noteworthy is her nephew, Curt Smith of Lufkin, Texas, the final descendant of the Smith family and will now take on the responsibility of preserving and carrying forward the family’s legacy. She also leaves behind a host of extended family, cherished friends, and loved ones who will deeply miss her presence.
