Nancy Carole Marshall Reid, a beloved educator passed away on December 29, 2024, at Tyler, Texas at the age of 60. Born on September 23, 1964, in Idabel, Nancy was the cherished daughter of James and Edith Marshall. Her early years were filled with the warmth of family and a community that shaped her loving spirit.
Having earned her Master’s degree in reading education, Nancy dedicated over 32 years to teaching elementary students from pre-k to third grade. Her passion for education was matched only by her unwavering commitment to children and love for her family. As a passionate 4-H leader, she guided countless young minds, embodying the caring presence that sparked curiosity and joy in learning. She was renowned for her special connection with "the littles" and for fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment that made every child feel valued. In recognition of her unparalleled dedication to children, Nancy was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame, honoring her remarkable contributions and the legacy she created. She was named McCurtain County 4-H Leader of the Year and more than once, was named 4-H Club of the Year. Her love for 4-H was instilled by her parents as Nancy herself won the Oklahoma State 4-H record book contest which landed her a trip to the national conference.
Nancy was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand. Her faith was deeply intertwined with her life’s mission, as she believed in the power of love and education to transform lives. Her profound impact on countless students and families made an undeniable mark on the hearts of immeasurable lives across the county.
Nancy is survived by her loving brothers, Gary Marshall and wife Brenda, Ronald Marshall and wife Linda, Alan Marshall and wife Billie; nieces and nephews, Josh Marshall, Terra Milner and husband Darren, Sarah Wesley and husband Todd, Kory Marshall and wife Candace, James Marshall Jr. and wife Katie, Jacky Marshall, Jessica Strang and husband Montana, Crystina Fielder and husband Tracy, John Womble III; niece-in-law, Carolyn Marshall; great-nieces and nephews, Landon Milner, Addison Wesley, Kendall Wesley, Rainie Wesley, Cooper Marshall, Scarlett Marshall, Tristan Marshall, Olivia Marshall, Kailyn Marshall, Skyler Marshall, Chase Marshall, Montana Strang Jr., Mason Strang, Taylor Fielder, Troy Fielder, Trey Fielder; numerous cousins, other family members and students all over the county.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Edith Marshall; husband, Jeff Reid; grandparents, Alice Carole and Floyd Marshall, Nancy and William F. Lawrence; and aunt, Wilna Lee Black.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Bro. Jon Hicks and Joe Jefferson officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Hill Cemetery in the Honey Grove Community with Todd Wesley and Joe Jefferson officiating.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
