Nelda Gibson-Stafford, age 74, passed away on June 10, 2025, in Wright City,
Oklahoma. She was born on June 28, 1950, to J.D. Gibson and Ethel Adams.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bronna Woods; two
brothers, L.C. Thompson and Jackie Don Gibson; and her identical twin sister,
Wilda Gibson.
Nelda led a life marked by resilience, creativity, and hard work. She was a skilled
brick-layer and proudly built the original McCurtain Memorial Hospital sign, as
well as the concession stand at the Idabel ball field. Her talents extended beyond
masonry, she enjoyed crocheting, woodworking, and building hanging shelves. She
was known for her no-nonsense attitude and crafty nature.
Throughout her life, Nelda wore many hats. She worked as a brick-layer, truck
driver, and home health nurse, always dedicating herself fully to every role.
She is survived by her children: Jimmy Don Stafford, Joshua Ray Stafford, Carol
Whitten, and Cheryl Stafford; her grandchildren: Jaci Stafford, Destiny Renee
Davis, Daisy May Allen, Dakota Jace Stafford, and Kaito Ray Stafford; and one
great-grandson. She is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and
other beloved family and friends.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June
16, 2025, at Forest Hill Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. John Sellars officiating.
