Nellie Mae Byrd Dodderer, age 100, went to be with the Lord September 15, 2021 in Antlers, Oklahoma.
Nellie was born January 26, 1921 in Valliant, Oklahoma to Wadie and Nollie Frye Byrd. She graduated from Valliant High School in 1941. Nellie married Jimmie Dodderer March 13, 1942 in Yuma, Arizona.
Nellie enjoyed writing poems, short stories about her childhood and family. She was a member of the Boron Assembly of God Church for sixty years and held many different offices. She never waivered from her faith.
Nellie and Jimmie were blessed with two children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wadie and Nollie; husband, Jimmie; son, Willie Edward “Buster”; sisters, Edith Blackard and Vallie Wilson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Marilyn Rogers (who passed away a few short hours later on September 15) and husband, Haskell Rogers of Millerton, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Susan Galloway of North Edwards, California; grandchildren, Stacey Clements and husband Bob of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Richard Owens of Boron, California; Tom Owens and wife Kari of Boron, California, Michelle McClure and husband Kody of Valliant, Oklahoma and Terry Lee Roberson of North Edwards, California; great-grandchildren, Chad Clements and wife Stephany, Ciara Wegner and husband Chris, Chase Clements, Collin Clements, Shawn Owens and wife Tianna, Tyler Owens, Owen Hall, Ethan Hall, Taryn Smith-McClure, Randon McClure; great-great-grandchildren, James Owens, Reed Clements, Reagen Clements, Rustin Clements, Layla Wegner, Bobby Wegner; numerous other relatives and friends.
Nellie always loved having her family and friends over. She was always an open door and second mom to some and grandma to most.
There will be a memorial service at a later date in California.
