Nelta JoAnn Scott

Nelta JoAnn Scott, 78 of Idabel, passed away July 24, 2023 at Idabel. She was born February 3, 1945, the daughter of Dorvin Reed Strawn Sr. and Mary Jo Roach Strawn. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Idabel.
In her younger years, JoAnn enjoyed dancing at Teen Town and playing cards. She always talked of how proud she was of her Idabel Gray High Class of 1963. After graduation in 1963, she and longtime friend Betty Farley went to beauty school in Texarkana where she was a beautician for several years. JoAnn worked as the bookkeeper for Forest Grove Water for 5 years, and as an aide in the office at Forest Grove School for 5 years. She worked as the Idabel High School principal's secretary for 23 years where she retired in 2007. 

Family was most important to JoAnn. Almost always, you would find her in the stands of her grandkids event’s cheering them on, no matter if it were sports or livestock events with her husband, Perry. The two were inseparable. She often encouraged people, whether it was positive notes on a bulletin board, sending cards to members of the church for various reasons or just cheering on her family.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, Perry Scott; daughter, Johnna Smith and husband James of Holly Creek; son-in-law, Ken Sivard and wife Lisa of Tablerville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kenny Sivard and wife Kayla, Brittani Manire, Jessica Edwards and husband, Ben, Tyler Sivard and wife, Sage, Michael Giles, Trevor Smith and significant other, Madison Brown; great-grandchildren, Kenny Sam Sivard, Joline Sivard, Brittlee McKinley; brother-in-law, Lynn Scott and wife Daphene; sisters-in-law, Bernice Suggs, Marsha Reed; special niece, Crystal Tyler; special lifelong friend, Sandra Smith; numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Reida Sivard; brother, Reed Strawn Jr.; mother-in-law, Elsie Scott; and brother-in-law, Bill Suggs.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel with Kenny Sivard and Bro. Brent Coffey officiating. Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
