Norma Jean Hess, 85 of Idabel, passed away July 12, 2019 at Plano, Texas. She was born May 15, 1934 the daughter of Marion “Mc” and Annie Woodruff Womack.
Although she had lived in the Houston area for twenty-one years, she lived the majority of her life in Idabel. Norma was a devoted member of the Lynn Lane Church of Christ. She faithfully assisted with bereavement meals and keeping the church roll. She and her sisters, Nita and Ruby operated the café at the sale barn for numerous years. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved helping her husband, Doyle on the ranch. She also loved camping, deer hunting and quail hunting.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Debbie Brigham of Idabel; sons and daughter-in-law, Pat and Dana Underwood of Idabel and Richard Underwood of Oklahoma City; sisters and brother-in-law, Nita and Billy McCain of Idabel and Ruby Pigg of Garvin; grandchildren, Billy Schneider, Nick Breitling, Rebecca Breitling, Brantley Underwood, Aaron Underwood, Pat Underwood, Kristin Underwood; numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doyle Hess; first husband, Pat Underwood; sisters, Mary Jo Whitten, Faye Capps, Sis Coffey; brothers, Amos Womack, Edgar C. Womack, Archie Womack and Charles Womack.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Lynn Lane Church of Christ with Virgil Romine officiating. Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
