Oleta Gravitt~Dixon Obituary

Oleta was born at home in Haworth, Oklahoma on August 14,1923 to Richard Woodson Maye and Amanda Thompson Maye.  She was preceded in death by her husband, T.O. Gravitt and her second husband, Robert Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her identical twin sister, Juanita Harris, Neva Black, Ima Jean Crabtree, Virginia Pollard and Tom Maye Jr.

She is remembered as a devoted and loving mother, a spotless housekeeper and an excellent cook.  Several of her recipes are made and enjoyed by family members each year. She remembered every birthday with a special card and birthday money until the last years of her life.  She loved her God, her family, her country, the state of Oklahoma and the OU Sooners.

Left to cherish her memory are son Michael Gravitt, his wife Debby and Grandsons Matthew and Adam, and her son Patrick Gravitt and wife Suzanne, Grandson Michael and wife Brandy, Great Granddaughter Anna and Great Grandson Miles, Granddaughter Amy and husband Erik, Great Grandson Jack and Great Granddaughter Romy, nieces Sandy White and Linda Kay Harris and nephew Doug Pollard.  In her last days, Oleta often remarked that she was ready to go home to heaven. We celebrate her good and long life and find comfort in the belief that she is at peace through the grace of God.

The family wishes to express its thanks to the wonderful care givers that made her last years better:  Alene Williston, Christie Eyring, Tracy Noseff, Paulette Stout, Jennifer Jarvis and Marcella McBride. Heartfelt appreciation to McCurtain Memorial Hospital and Doctors Murrell and Adams and Nurses Suzanne, Lonna, Jessica, Byron and Zemy and others on the staff who provided such exceptional care.

A funeral service will be held Monday, December 30 at 10:00 AM at Clardy Funeral Service in Idabel with Pastor Mark Davidson officiating.
