Ronald Nicholson

Ronald “Ronny” Lynn Nicholson, 72 of DeKalb, passed away August 9, 2023 at his home surrounded by
his loving family. He was born May 20, 1951, the son of William Jr. “Bill” and Maxine Nicholson.
An avid outdoorsman, Ronny enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a talented wood worker and enjoyed
piddling, fixing things, working in his sawmill and making just about anything he had seen.
Ronny could best be described as witty, goofy, gruff, honest, caring and compassionate. He would give
the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Everybody loved him. He wholeheartedly loved his wife, kids
and grandkids and would do anything for them.
Ronny is survived by his daughters, Roneisa Matero and spouse, Steve Burger of Athens, Texas and
Wendie Nicholson of DeKalb, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Brenda Nicholson of Haworth;
sister, Sue McDonald of Kentucky; grandchildren, Jaci Pruett, Jade Colley, Brianna Shultz and husband
Grant, Dante Matero and wife Skyler; great-grandchildren, Clayton Colley, Peyton Shultz, Weston Shultz,
Breyer Pruett, Apphia Matero; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Maxine Nicholson; wife and love of his life, Judy
Nicholson.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Clardy Funeral
Service Chapel.
