Rubie Baker Obituary

Rubie Lee Baker, 98, of Foreman, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025.
She was born on November 5, 1926, in Foreman, Arkansas, to John Richards and Eve
Harris. Rubie was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Jerry Baker
Sr.; one brother, Neely Richards; five children — Willie B. Carter, John Richard Baker,
Secody Baker, Betty Baker, and Roy Baker; and her son-in-law, Darnell Dedmon.
On November 18, 1944, Rubie married the love of her life, Jerry Baker Sr., in Foreman,
Arkansas. A devoted wife and mother, she found joy in crafting, sewing, working in her
yard, tending to her flowers, and cooking for her family. She was employed at Pilgrim’s
and later worked at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in DeQueen, Arkansas, until she
retired to care for her husband when he became ill.
Rubie deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and extended family — but above all,
she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was known for her wisdom, humor,
feisty spirit, and outspoken nature, which brought joy and strength to all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Baker Jr. and his wife Linda of Foreman, Arkansas;
Bobby Baker and his wife Cindy of Foreman, Arkansas; and James “Ray” Baker and his
wife Esther of Idabel, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her daughters, Vernell Dedmon
of Foreman, Arkansas; Geneva Johnson of Idabel, Oklahoma; Suzanne Baker, Anita
Baker, Juliet Baker, and Willie Ann Baker, all of Beaumont, California; and Ruby Baker
of Wake Village, Texas. Rubie leaves behind 46 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren,
37 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other
loved ones.
