Russell Williston was born October 8, 1973 at Talihina, Oklahoma, the son of Barbara and LeRoy
Williston. He graduated from Idabel High School and was a member of the Bokchito Methodist Church.
He began working at the Idabel Fire Department as a firefighter in 1994 and retired in 2011. He
absolutely loved being a firefighter and helping people. He even wanted to share the gift of life with
others after he passed away by being an organ donor.
Russell enjoyed family gatherings and watching OU Football games. He loved going out to eat. He was a
happy person and fun to be around. He was always pestering people and joking.
Russell passed away October 25, 2022 at Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 49.
He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Williston; sisters, Kimberly Qualls and Peggy Williston;
grandparents, Rosa and Tobias Williston and Ennis and Etta Mae Burke.
Russell is survived by his mother and step-father, Barbara and Hal Pugh of Idabel; son and daughter-in-
law, Tyler Brent Williston and Paulette of Idabel; brothers, Darrell Williston and Brad Williston both of
Idabel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debra and Chico Aguirre of Wright City, Angela and Richard Pierce of
Idabel, Brooke Williston of Idabel and Robert Qualls of Idabel; numerous nieces, nephews, other
relatives, friends, and his firefighter brothers from the Idabel Fire Department.
A wake service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Clardy Funeral Service
Chapel with Richard Pierce and Tim Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery.
